JAMMU: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha will celebrate the 155th Birth Anniversary of Sher-e-Duggar Lala Hansraj Mahajan and the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Justice Meher Chand Mahajan, the first Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by President of Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Ramesh Chandra Gupta during a press conference here on Tuesday.
“Last year, due to the Corona epidemic, programmes could not be held to commemorate the birth anniversary of these two personalities of Jammu. This time the Sabha has decided to organize the main programme on December 26 at Mahajan Sabha in Shalamar,” Gupta told reporters.
He said that on December 5, Rangoli competition would be organized for the girls of Mahajan fraternity in the Sabha premises.
A painting competition will also be organized for boys and girls up to 15 years of age on the same day, he said adding that for this, children can register themselves till December 3.
Gupta said that on December 26, there will be a Mahajan Milan programme in which the winners of these competitions will be awarded along with the children who have secured 90 per cent or more marks in Classes 10th and 12th in the year 2019-20 and 2020-21. Apart from this, in the Mahajan Milan programme, those youths of the community who have done IAS or JKAS in these two years will also be honoured, Gupta added.
The programme, he said, will also felicitate those who have rendered outstanding services in various fields. For this, registration can be done till December 20.
Gupta said that a committee of experts is also being constituted to select the winners of the competitions, which will be announced soon.
During the press conference, Senior Vice-President Shiv Pratap Gupta and General Secretary Om Prakash Mahajan, Harendra Gupta and Sanjay Mahajan, besides Yashpal Gupta, Surendra Gupta, Dr. Mohan Lal, Atul Gupta, Vikul Gupta, Balbir Gupta, Manu Mahajan, Manish Gupta and Ravi Rohmetra were also present.
