STATE TIMES NEWS SURNAKOTE: To make youth aware about drug abuse, Indian Army conducted an awareness lecture on “Drug Abuse” at village Surankote in District Poonch. Drug abuse is a social menace which damages the lives of all sections of society. Any person can be affected by drugs regardless of age, gender, economic status etc. Many people do not realise that addiction is a chronic, progressive condition that requires professional treatment, help and support. Drug abuse harms the addict and has a far reaching consequence which encompasses family, friends and community as a whole. The event was conducted with the theme of “Protecting the youth and promoting welfare of human”. The youth was briefed about the early symptoms of drug abuse and preventive treatment aspects including rehabilitation. The pledge was taken to say “No To Drugs”.
