Congress committed to honour aspirations of J&K people: Bhalla

JAMMU: Newly appointed JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Friday paid obeisance at Bawe Wali Mata Shrine Bahu Fort Jammu to seek blessings of Goddess to effectively perform newly assigned vital responsibility.
Later Bhalla also visited Gurudwara Digiana Ashram to seek blessings of Shriman Mahant Manjeet Singh of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch. On the occasions several prominent members of party accompanied Bhalla.
Meanwhile hundreds of party activists visited residence of former Minister to congratulate him and also to express gratitude to AICC President Gandhi for taking momentous decision of appointing Bhalla working President of JKPCC.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that he is grateful that confidence has been expressed in him by party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
“With party workers’ help, I’ll take party’s ideology to grassroot level. I’ll take everyone together to take forward J&K on basis of party’s ideology and also in accordance with aspirations of people of J&K,” said the newly appointed Working President.
When asked about any move with regard to re-organization of J&K units, district and Block committees of the party, Bhalla said it has to be decided by JKPCC President GA Mir.
“I think there is no need to be in hurry. For some time the party will move with the same arrangement and decision in this regard can be taken after discussing the issue with the party high command,” Bhalla maintained.
Addressing party workers and other functionaries at his residence, Bhalla thanked the party functionaries and other activists for his warm welcome and said that it was their gesture; love and affection that they came out in large number to congratulate him.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the Centre to restore the dignity and honour of the J&K by granting Statehood, besides restoring democratic rights to the people of J&K.
He also termed the Congress Party only unifying force capable enough to defeat maneuvering to divide people on the basis of their region or religion aiming to gain political mileage on the part of BJP.
He said that efforts to weaken the Congress Party will be thwarted while terming it(Congress) a true representative of the people credited of having rendered remarkable service to the Nation during 75 years post-independence.
He urged the people to rise to the occasion to oppose the wrong policies of the Centre towards J&K.
