FLYOVER CRAVING REPAIRS

There is no secret in the fact that Bikram Chowk Flyover was made with extreme swiftness as the same was projected by the then PDP-BJP coalition government in the erstwhile J&K State as part of its development model though the major chunk of the construction was completed under the previous NC-Congress government. The hurry shown by the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for inaugurating the aforesaid pathway was apparent at that time as many things were accomplished overnight to prepare the fly-over for inauguration. The unnecessary hurry which the helmsmen at that time forced has probably left some kind of technical flaws in the flyover as driving on this twin tube road is a risky affair because the gaps between flyover slabs have developed king-size fissures making the ride bumpy and highly inconvenient. If by chance a patient or an aged person travels on this flyover in a car, it is sure that either his body parts will relocate or he or she may suffer convulsions. The abysmal condition of the road on this flyover is not a new thing as from the day one the situation is same but somehow those manning the civil work affairs in the previous government and the incumbent as well do not seem to be interested in doing anything to get rid of the problem as commuters try their best to avoid big gaps while on wheels but there is no scope for this because every joint of flyover slab has the same problem and occupants of the vehicles must have to go through this horrendous experience while traveling on the aforesaid flyover. It is not difficult to repair the same but there seems to be a lack of conviction to take any measures to rectify this and provide hassle-free travel experience to commuters. The LG’s administration should take note of the abysmal condition of aforesaid flyover and start the repair works as soon as possible. This otherwise is also important because it could lead to road mishaps as the drivers struggle and manipulate directions to find slots on these slab joints to ensure jerk-free ride which under present conditions is not possible.
