Civil, Police Admn joining hands to provide maximum facilities to masses

SRINAGAR: As a part of public outreach programme and to strengthen relationship between administration and general public, a series of meetings and interactions were held in Srinagar, Baramulla and Ganderbal. According to the officials, these meetings were held to further improve co-ordination between civil and police administration and relationship with general public.
The district administration in collaboration with Srinagar Municipal Corporation and local police is working to provide hassle-free transport system, removing encroachments by shopkeepers and vendors besides removing roadside car parking under supervision of SMC Commissioner Athar Amir Khan. Further, civil and police administrations are joining hands to provide maximum facilities to general public in Srinagar. In this regard, a civil-police coordination meeting was held at DC office complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Assad. Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Balwal was also present on the occasion. The meeting discussed various issues related to market checking, COVID enforcement, prevention of drug menace and illegal constructions, anti-encroachment drives and other public service delivery matters. On the occasion, officers of Police and Civil Administration officers gave detailed feedback to Deputy Commissioner about basic concerns of people in their respective jurisdictions. Speaking during the meeting, DC said that Civil Administration as well as Police have a common goal of working for welfare of the people. He also directed for constituting Revenue Patrolling squads to check illegal constructions and land conversion besides other concerns in larger interest of public. The DC also asked for conducting a joint capacity building workshop for senior officers of police and civil administration to ensure better relationship with masses.
SSP Srinagar also spoke on the occasion and stressed on better coordination between police and civil administration for eradicating social evils from society and efficient tackling of law & order situations.
On the other side, Police in Baramulla facilitated another Police-public interaction meeting at Police Post Palhalan. The meeting was chaired by SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat in presence of other officers. A number of people including eminent citizens, PRIs, members of Auqaf committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, traders’ federations and various market associations also attended the meeting. A similar interaction meeting was held in Ganderbal which was attended by a number of eminent personalities from different walks of life.
Earlier, Army and civil administration, on Saturday conducted a Gram Sabha at Dawar in Gurez on occasion of ‘National Good Governance Day’. The event was attended by over 70 persons including Sarpanchs, Panchs, public representatives, and officials of civil administration and Army. During this meet locals were informed about various initiatives undertaken jointly by the administration and Army for development of tourism, infrastructure, self-employment and improvement of quality of living in Gurez. On the occasion, progress on points discussed during previous Gram Sabha meeting was discusses while plans & initiatives for development and progress of Gurez were discussed. A lecture on ‘Health Management & Preventive Care during winters’ was delivered by a team of doctors led by BMO and problems at the grass-root level and grievances of locals were heard by concerned authorities.
