STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: Acting on a number of complaints of overcharging of fare & overloading in Sleeper coaches, ARTO Reasi Rajesh Gupta conducted a massive checking on Numain-Katra route on Tuesday. During the inspection, the ARTO enquired directly from passengers about fare being charged and also held a meeting with public and their elected representatives to sort out various issues regarding transport in their areas. He assured public that strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act shall be initiated against all violators and offenders. During extensive checking, the team Challaned 3 vehicles and recovered a sum of Rs 39,000 as fine for violations of various traffic rules. The ARTO ordered operators to display fare-list on travel agencies & other prominent places for information of the general public, especially for Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
