Two theft cases solved; three arrested, stolen goods recovered

JAMMU/UDHAMPUR: Police on Saturday solved two theft cases by arresting three accused and recovered stolen goods from their possession.
As per the details, a complainant namely Ankur Gupta, son of Boshan Gupta, resident of Krishna Nagar, Jammu lodged a written complaint at Police Post Canal stating that on December 29, 2021 some unknown thieves entered his house in broad day-light at about 2 PM and decamped with Rs 40000 cash and 7-8 Tollas gold. FIR No. 01/2022 under sections 454/380 of IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started. After this special police teams of Police Post Canal Road under supervision of DySP Hqrs Swati Sharma were constituted. The team led by SHO Police Station Nowabad Inspr Rajesh Khajuria assisted by Incharge Police Post Canal Road PSI Ishfaq Kasana, with strenuous efforts and help of CCTV footages of the area, rounded up a suspect namely Sahil Mashi alias Bata, son of Arshad Mashi, resident of Ustad Mohalla. During questioning, accused confessed the crime and on his disclosure stolen gold worth Rs 2-2.5 lakh were recovered from his possession. The overall arrest and recoveries were made under supervision of SP City North Kulbir Handa.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police worked out theft case under jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur within 24 hours of its registration and arrested accused persons namely Gafoor, son of Yousuf, resident of Balyal, Udhampur and Sadiq Mohd, son of Shah Mohd, resident of Garnai, Udhampur. Based on complaint of theft/burglary in the shop of one Ankush Sharma from Gole Mela, Udhampur, a team headed by SHO Police Station Udhampur Insp Chaman Gorkha under the supervision of Anwaar ul Haq Addl SP Udhampur and Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs Udhampur conducted raids in different suspected locations. During raids, some suspects were zeroed in by police and on sustained interrogation, two of them broke down and confessed their offence. On disclosure of accused persons, stolen items like ply-board sheets, GI Tin sheets, Pipes etc valuing more than Rs 70,000 were recovered. FIR No. 03/2022 under sections 457/380 of IPC was registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of case is going on.
