1,606 new COVID cases reported in J&K, 150 in Ladakh

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 1606 new COVID cases– 887 from Jammu division and 719 from Kashmir division– thus taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory to 445497.
Also, four COVID deaths have been reported; two each from the Jammu Division and the Valley.
According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 445497 positive cases, 20663are Active Positive (6570in Jammu Division and 14094in Kashmir Division), 420128 have recovered and 4706 have died; 2302 in Jammu division and 2404in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 21787763 test results available, 445497 samples have tested positive and 21342266 samples have been tested as negative till date. Besides, 73,948 COVID tests have been conducted in last 24 hours.
Till date 5856535 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 30184persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 20663 in isolation and 433848 in home surveillance. Besides, 5367134 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Meanwhile, Ladakh’s COVID caseload increased to 26,710 as 150 more people tested positive for the viral disease during the past 24 hours, officials said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 226.
While Leh reported 86 fresh cases, Kargil reported 64, the officials said.
Of the total 226 deaths, 167 were reported from Leh and 59 from Kargil.
As many as 218 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the disease. Of these, 125 patients were discharged in Leh and 93 in Kargil, the officials said.
With this, the total number of recoveries in Ladakh has increased to 25,405, they said. There are 1,079 active cases — 666 in Leh and 413 in Kargil — in Ladakh. The positivity rate stands at 4.2 per cent, they said.
