J&K reports 1,151 new Covid cases, 9 fatalities

JAMMU: The authorities on Sunday decided to lift weekend lockdown after decline in COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir and also allowed coaching centres to take offline classes with 50 percent capacity subject to the condition that both staff as well students are fully vaccinated.
According to an order, issued by State Executive Committee, night curfew will remain in force in the entire Union Territory from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM with complete restriction on non-essential movement.
The order also stated that coaching centres fro civil services, engineering and NEET etc. are permitted to adopt offline medium of teaching at 50 per cent capacity subject to condition that both faculty members and students are fully vaccinated and ensuring of following of SOPs and Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

It, however, stated that all educational institutions will continue to remain closed from offline mode of teaching and shall continue to take online classes.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir has reported 1151 new Covid cases during the past 24 hours, 511 from Jammu division and 640 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory to 446648.
Officials said nine Covid related deaths were recorded, five in the Jammu Division and four in the Valley.
According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 446648 positive cases, 17412 are Active Positive (5698 in Jammu Division and 11714 in Kashmir Division), 424521 have recovered and 4715 have died; 2307 in Jammu division and 2408in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 21859471 test results available, 446648 samples have tested positive and 21412823 samples have been tested as negative till date. Besides, 71,708 COVID tests have been conducted in last 24 hours.
Till date 5865440 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 33311persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 17412 in isolation and 434603 in home surveillance. Besides, 5375399 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Ladakh’s Covid caseload increased to 26,821 as 111 more people tested positive for the viral disease during the past 24 hours, officials said.
The death toll remained unchanged at 226.
While 57 fresh cases were reported from Kargil district, 54 were from Leh district, the officials said.
Of the total 226 deaths, 167 were reported from Leh and 59 from Kargil, according to the officials.
As many as 165 patients — 134 in Leh and 31 in Kargil — were discharged from hospitals after recovering from COVID-19. With this, the total number of recoveries in Ladakh has gone up to 25,570, the officials said.
There are 1,025 active cases — 586 in Leh and 439 in Kargil — in the union territory. The positivity rate stands at 4.2 per cent, they said.
