ADGP Armed, others staffers appreciate his outstanding achievements in sports

JAMMU: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Mukesh Singh alongwith DIG Jammu Vivek Gupta on Tuesday felicitated Inspector Kuldeep Handoo on being awarded with Dronacharya Award as National Chief Coach for Wushu.
While honouring Inspector Kuldeep Handoo, Addl DGP Mukesh Singh at Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, said, “Handoo is the first person from Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir to receive the prestigious Dronacharya Award. He has made J&K Police proud at International level.”
DIG Vivek Gupta also extended congratulations to the Insp Handoo saying that such rewards also boost the morale of other police personnel to take part in sports activities.
Dronacharya award carrying a trophy and Rs. 10 lakh cash reward was presented to Inspector Kuldeep Handoo by the President of India through virtual mode and physically by Sports Minister of India Anurag Thakur.
Kuldeep Handoo represented India as National Chief Wushu Coach 3rd times in 18th Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia in which India got four bronze medals.
Initially, he represented India during 16th Asian games held at Guangzhou, China in which India got two Medal (one Silver and one Bronze Medal) under his supervision. Thereafter 2nd time, Handoo represented India in 17th Asian games held in Incheon, Korea in which India won two Bronze Medal.
Kuldeep Handoo has the distinction of being the recipient of State Award by J&K Govt., Sher-i-Kashmir award by J&K Sports Council, Purshoram award for being outstanding Coach in the year 2013, recipient of FICCI Coach of the year award 2016, Rangeel Singh award 2017 and DGP Medal.
As National Chief Coach of India in Wushu, Kuldeep Handoo has remarkable achievements at International level in his credit which include his winning of one gold and four bronze medals in 14th World Wushu Championship-2017, one gold, two silver and one bronze in 15th Wushu Championship-2019, three bronze and one silver in Asia Cup-2017, four bronze and one silver in Shanghai Cooperation Wushu Championship-2019, one gold, two silver and five bronze in 6th PARS Cup Iran-2017, three silver and seven bronze in 7th PARS Cup Iran-2019 and 13 gold, two silver and two bronze in 13th SAF Games- Nepal 2019.
Besides, credit of winning two gold, 11 silver, 14 bronze medals in world championships, one gold, five silver, 11 Bronze in World Cup, one silver, eight bronze in Asian Games, seven silver, 18 bronze in Asian Championship, four silver and six bronze in Asia Cup besides four times overall champion of South Asian Games goes to Kuldeep Handoo in the capacity of National Chief Wushu Coach of India. J&K Police is really proud of this outstanding and par excellent sports person.
Meanwhile, ADGP Armed S.J.M Gillani also honoured Inspector Kuldeep Handoo for his 4th time successive selection as National Chief Wushu Coach of India for Asian Games scheduled to be held at Hangzhou, China from September 10 to 15, 2022.
The felicitation ceremony was also held in the APHQ J&K Jammu which was attended by Mahmood Ahmed SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Dushyant Sharma SSP SO Sports APHQ, Sajad Hussain, Pvt. Secy. to ADGP Armed J&K, Abdul Rashid PA to ADGP Armed J&K and I/C Sports Branch APHQ Mohd Hussain.
