Sikh organisations led by SPF hold daylong protest in support of their demands

JAMMU: To expresses resentment against Government for not resolving long pending issues of Sikh Community of J&K, a number of activists of various organisations including Sikh Progressive Front (SPF), Kashmir Sikh Sangat, J&K Peoples Movement, Sikh Intellectual Forum, Displaced Kashmiri Sikh Conference, Tanker Union of J&K UT staged a daylong peaceful Dharna at Hari Singh Memorial Park, near Press Club, Jammu on Wednesday.
While addressing media, Balvinder Singh, President SPF said that despite taking up several issues at different platforms and most importantly, submitting a detailed memorandum to LG Manoj Sinha, nothing has been done by the Government to resolve the long pending issues of community. The issues highlighted by the community members included inclusion of Sikh members in JKPSC, inclusion of Punjabi language in official languages of J&K, inclusion of Sikh Youth from Kashmir valley (non-migrant) in circular issued by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for admission in higher educational Institutions, implementation of National Minority Commission Act, implementation of Anand Marriage Act, installation of statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk, releasing balance compensation to PoJK Refugees, removing discrepancies in delimitation draft report etc. Those who spoke on the occasion included Manjit Singh, Rajinder Singh Sudan, Surinder Singh Wazir, Dalip Singh, Taranjit Singh Tony, Jatinder Singh, Makhan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Singh, Babu Singh, Narinder Singh Khalsa, Tanbir Singh Sodhi, Sharanjit Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Amrik Singh. Urging Government to initiate immediate concrete measures for resolving all pending issues of Sikh community, the leaders said that continuous neglect of Sikh Community shall result in intensified struggle by community members, the responsibility of which will be of Government.
