While more than 20,000 Indians had left Ukraine by late Friday, about 1,000 Indian students still remained in the conflict zone – 300 in Kharkiv and over 700 in Sumy – as India’s Operation Ganga entered a decisive stage. Foreign secretary Harsh Shringla had spoken to the Ukraine deputy foreign minister for help in evacuation from eastern Ukraine.
