SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested one Muzaffer Ahmed Dada, Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) Anantnag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 for passing bill of complainant.
As per an official spokesperson, “Sleuths of ACB received a complaint alleging therein that Muzzaffer Ahmed Dada, Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Anantnag is demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant for passing bill for balance payments. “Complainant, who is a contractor by profession, had done work titled RCC Footpath Foundation and Boundary Walls work of Amarnathji Yatra Track from Chandanwari to Pissotop from 1 Km to 3 Km in PDA. In his complaint, he alleged that Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer, PDA is demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 for releasing pending amount of Rs 8,044,72,” said official, adding “On receiving complaint prima facie offence under sections 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. Consequently, case FIR No. 04/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB Anantnag and investigation taken up.” During course of investigation, a trap team was constituted which caught Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant. He was arrested on the spot and bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses.
