JAMMU: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized its 35th Convocation which was organized on 26th April, 2022 at IGNOU Maidan Garhi New Delhi Headquarters and simultaneously at thirty two Regional Centres across the Country including Regional Centre at Jammu.
As many as 2.91 lakh students have been declared qualified to receive Degrees/Diplomas in the 35th Convocation across the country.
All those students who have passed in December 2020 and June 2021 Term-End Examinations were declared eligible to receive their Degree/Diploma certificates in the 35th Convocation.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India , was the Chief Guest and delivered convocation address and at the New Delhi Headquarters of IGNOU.

Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu, was the Chief Guest and awarded Degree Certificates to the eligible Learners.
A total of 14,159 students from Regional Centre Jammu were declared successful and eligible to receive Diplomas and Degree Certificates in the 35th Convocation function out of which 3830 Master Degree learners, 10033 Bachelor Degree learners, 296 learners of Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma programmes.
A total of 1312 candidates had paid the fee online. A total of 194 candidates had given their consent to receive Degree/Diploma certificates in person.
However, 81 candidates attended the Convocation ceremony who were conferred upon Degree/Diploma certificates at the Convocation function.
Prof. J.P. Sharma termed the 35th Convocation of IGNOU as an occasion of celebration of IGNOU’s achievements which is referred to as the People’s University accessible to all those far and wide who otherwise would have lost the opportunity to gain access to higher education, improve upon their qualification and increase the chances of employment.
He congratulated the students on whom the university had conferred Degree Certificates and also appreciated the efforts made by the Regional Centre functionaries for the efforts to widen the spectrum of education in the region.
Prof. Sharma urged the awardees that they have to translate their educational achievements to benefit the world and that they all have a collective responsibility to work for the progress of the society and the country as a whole.
