JAMMU: The University of Jammu (JU) Kickboxing team brought laurels to the institution winning nine medals, including two gold and three silver in the All India Inter-University Kickboxing (men) Championship which was organised by Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya University, Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh from April 20 to 23.
Subsequently, both the gold medal winners have been selected for the coaching camp, which will be followed by the selection for the World University Games to be held at Serbia in August, a handout issued by the JU informed.
On their return, Vice Chancellor, JU, Prof. Umesh Rai interacted with and congratulated the team for the splendid performance in the presence of Registrar, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC lauded the efforts of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education. Earlier, Director, Sports and Physical Education, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba introduced the team members.
Danish Padha and Satyam Khajuria accompanied the team as coach and manager respectively.
Among others present were Abhishek Jain, general secretary, J&K Kickboxing Association), Jai Bharat and Harinderpal Singh.
MEDAL WINNERS: Harsh Dev Singh, Mohd. Arif (both Gold), Dheeraj Partap, Sahil Ali and Aman Dubey (all Silver), Deepak Kumar (Bronze), Aman Sharma (Bronze), Zafar Iqbal (Bronze), Snehal Sudan (Bronze).
