JAMMU: Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir (MAJK) shall hold selection trials to name the team for North Zone Sport Climbing Championship scheduled to take place from May 16 to 19 at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), Uttarkashi.
The trials shall be held on May one and May seven during the district competitions at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall in the Sprawling Buds ICSE School campus at Bantalab, here from May one, a handout issued by the Association here on Wednesday informed.
While trials for climbers of Jammu Division shall be conducted along with district Sport Climbing Competitions of Udhampur and Reasi on May 1, the selection for the climbers of Kashmir Division is slated to take place on May 7. It followed by the final selection of the J&K UT team on May 7, coincide with J&K UT Championship.
The selection shall be followed by two training camps. The first coaching camp shall take place at Sprawling Buds School Jammu from May 2 to 7 while the other has been arranged by the Association from May 10 to 15 at Uttarkashi, the venue for the North Zone meet, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.
“The selection of the team shall be made by a committee headed by Shawetica Khajuria, an international Judge in Sport Climbing which includes among others Zorawar Singh Jamwal, president; Ram Khajuria, senior vice president, Shashi Kant Sharma, vice president, a coach and Shilpa Charak, an international sport climber.
Interested climbers may report to the venue on the scheduled dates with their Aadhaar Cards.
