JAMMU: Women have a special respectable place in Indian Society. To pay tribute to Nari Shakti, best symbolized through Veer Naris, Women Marathon Runners conducted a run, which concluded at Balidan Stambh, Jammu. The programme was coordinated by NGO, National Corruption Control and Human Welfare Organization, in conjunction with Tiger Division and other organisations.
The aim of this programme was to bring the Citizens and Veer Naris at the same platform for better interaction. War Decorated India, SS Jain Sabha Talab Tillo, Home For Old and Infirm, Aggarwal Sabha, Mahila Mandal Jain Nagar Talab Tillo and Jain Yuvak Singh actively participated. Rajesh Padha motivated a team of 30 Women Runners to participate in this unique and noble event.
To express solidarity with the soldiers and to pay homage to sacrifices of the soldiers’ families, the Women Runners decided to complete the run, holding the Tri color.
These women runners are ordinary House Makers, however, they picked up Marathon running as a hobby, very late in life. The grit, determination and their Will Power has elevated many of them to State/ National level. They are a perfect mix of typical Indian Women, kind and soft in her dealing but physically and mentally strong, with Nerves of Steel.
Four of these runners won attractive cash prizes at recently concluded Katra Marathon (Manminder Kaur, Shipra Aggarwal, Sonia Sahwney, Shweta Mittal), but they decided to donate this prize money to widows of Non Pensioner Soldiers.
Brig Harcharan Singh, National Administrator of NCCHWO explained the concept behind the programme and emphasised that Citizens adopt the families of Soldiers, who are Killed in Action.
ID Soni spoke on behalf of citizens and emphasised to develop nationalistic/ patriotic feeling amongst youth.
All present paid floral tributes at Balidan Stambh to honor the soldiers. Veer Naris/ Widows were felicitated by Aggarwal Sabha and Home For Old & Infirm, Jammu.
To adopt the families of soldiers (Killed in Action), Jain Yuvak Sangh President Ashish Jain and Jain Mahila Mandal President Sunanda Jain and their members volunteered.
During the programme, runners were handed over token appreciation certificates for their selfless efforts. The programme culminated with recital of the National Anthem.
