The controversial Chinese ship Yuan Wang 5 reached Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port on Tuesday morning. The ship, that China claims is a research vessel, has been dubbed a “spy ship” by security analysts. There were apprehensions in New Delhi about the possibility of the vessel’s tracking systems attempting to snoop on Indian defence installations while being on its way to the Sri Lankan port.
