In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court on Thursday said that marital status of a woman cannot be a ground to deprive her of the right to abort an unwanted pregnancy. The top court said that even a single and unmarried woman has the right to abort under Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and the rules, till 24 weeks of pregnancy.
