The key accused in a 1992 Bihar massacre in which 35 Bhumihar caste members were butchered was Thursday sentenced to life, 31 years after blood-letting and a trial that has spilled over two decades. Kirani Yadav was also fined Rs 3 lakh over the killings in Gaya in what has come to be known as the Bara caste carnage. The attackers were alleged to be members of the CPI (Maoist).
