At a time when Congress is looking to up its tally of seats by improving its performance in north Karnataka, the decision of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) to join the fray has caused concern since it is likely to divide the secular vote. The worry for Congress is that besides Muslims, the party may also eat into dalit votes since it is reaching out to the community.
