A wedding organised on the outskirts of Hyderabad was cancelled by the bride at the last minute, ostensibly because of low dowry. She demanded more than Rs 2 lakh, which was paid by the groom’s family in keeping with the tribe’s custom of “reverse dowry” paid to prospective brides.
