Communal tension in Uttarkashi’s Purola town, following the arrest of two men, including one from the minority community, for allegedly trying to “abduct” a minor girl of a different faith on May 26, has now spread to Gangotri town in the district. Shops remained closed on Saturday in Gangotri as a mark of protest against the increasing number of alleged incidents of “love jihad” across the state.
