Canada announces new rules to curb int’l student fraud schemes

Canada’s immigration minister, Marc Miller, has announced new rules to protect international students from fraud. Starting from December 1, 2023, post-secondary designated learning institutions will be required to verify every applicant’s letter of acceptance with the immigration department before issuing a study permit. Canada also plans to establish a system that benefits institutions with higher standards for international students. These measures aim to protect genuine students from fraud and support Canada’s economy.
