SRINAGAR, Nov 2: J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today said that after the Pahalgam terror attack, the Lieutenant Governor’s administration successfully restored peace and stability across J&K, paving the way for the revival of tourism and renewed confidence among visitors.
She was speaking at a Special Tourism Conclave held at Sonmarg, organized by the Trade and Hoteliers Association to review preparations and promotional initiatives for the upcoming winter tourism season.
Welcoming her at the event, Association President Furqan Ahmad said the tourism industry had suffered greatly due to the Pahalgam attack.
“Now we are working hard to ensure a successful winter tourist season, and we have many hopes from Dr Andrabi, whose positive impact has worked wonders over the years,” he said.
Dr Andrabi held a detailed interaction with traders, hoteliers, and other stakeholders to discuss tourism development, restoration of confidence, and preparedness for the winter season.
She assured full support to the sector, emphasizing special efforts to make the upcoming season successful not only in Sonmarg but across J&K.
“After the Pahalgam terror attack, the tourism industry suffered a setback and the whole of J&K paid a huge price for the misadventure of terrorists and their separatist supporters from across the border,” she said.
She noted that under the Prime Minister’s strong command, the security forces gave a befitting reply to the terrorists and their sponsors.
“The LG administration, through the valiant police forces, ensured peace and stability by crushing terror networks and supporters. This re-established peace and confidence in J&K,” she said.
“Kashmir is ready for Winter Tourism, and Sonmarg is the Winter Wonderland,” Dr Andrabi said & added. “I will put in all my energies to stand with people associated with the tourism industry to make this season a success.”
Expressing confidence that the drug menace will soon be eradicated, she lauded the LG administration for efforts to combat it.
“People here are innocent and patriotic. The Government, police, and armed forces are working together to end this menace,” she said.
Dr Andrabi appealed to people across the country to visit Kashmir and experience its beauty. “Come and visit Kashmir – the people here are waiting. This is heaven on earth,” she added.
