RAIPUR, Nov 2: Jammu and Kashmir opener Shubham Khajuria delivered a spectacular batting performance to withstand Chhattisgarh’s fiery pace attack led by Ravi Kiran in a riveting first-class encounter at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Chhattisgarh.
Resuming from an overnight 195/4, J&K faced an early setback at 0/2, but Khajuria steadied the innings with commanding partnerships alongside skipper Paras Dogra (59), Kanhaiya Wadhawan (42) and Umar Nazir (40). His unbeaten 190 off 344 balls, studded with 30 boundaries and 2 sixes, propelled the team to a solid first-innings total of 394. Tail-enders also contributed crucial runs, while Nazir impressed with 40 runs, 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Chhattisgarh responded cautiously, reaching 75/1 at stumps with Ayush Pandey (32) dismissed, while Shashank Chandrakar (20) and Ashutosh Singh (18) held the crease. Nazir claimed the lone wicket for J&K.
Ravi Kiran emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for Chhattisgarh, taking 7 wickets for 82 runs in 27 overs, supported by Ajay Mundal, AA Sarvate and Sourab Majumdar, who claimed a wicket each. With both sides showing skill and resilience, the match remains finely poised for an exciting conclusion.
