KATHUA, May 19: Member Legislative Assembly Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today started the restoration work of the historic iron bridge at Nagri near Kathua.
The Additional District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Surinder Mohan Sharma, Block Development Officer, Nagri Parole, Pardeep Singh, Tehsildar Nagri, Aana Jamwal, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Nagri, P R Sangra and officials of Public Works and Rural Development Department were Present on the occasion.
Besides, a sizeable number of local residents and devotees of Shri Mata Bala Sundri Shrine were also present on the occasion. It is pertinent to mention here that this historic bridge which connects North part of the town with the Southern part of Nagri town was extensively damaged during the flash floods of August 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bharat Bhushan said that the bridge is an important link for the people of Nagri and adjoining areas and its restoration was a long pending demand of the locals. He stated that the Government is committed towards strengthening public infrastructure and providing better facilities to the people in every part of the constituency.
The MLA emphasized that durable and quality infrastructure plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of rural areas. He assured the people that several other developmental projects are also being taken up in Kathua constituency to improve roads, bridges, water supply and other civic amenities.
The restoration work has been undertaken to improve connectivity and ensure the safety and convenience of the local residents who have been facing difficulties due to the deteriorated condition of the bridge.
Residents of the area expressed gratitude to the MLA for taking keen interest in resolving public issues and starting the restoration work of the bridge. They said that the repaired bridge will greatly benefit commuters, students and farmers of the region.

Pawan Singh, Neelam Kangla, Kapil Dev Sharma, Former Sarpanch, Dillawar Singh, Shobha Gupta , Pawan Kumar, Sanjeev Verma, Romesh Sharma, Sanju Puri, Dr. Kewal, Youth leader Amit Sharma, Bhanu Partap Singh, Anirudh Sharma, Jodh Saini, Dr Nasib, Harbans Saini, Sarwan Saini and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
