Major infiltration attempt foiled on LoC in Nowshera
*Third intrusion bid in less than a month

JAMMU, Mar 10: Army today gunned down a Pakistani terrorist and was searching another, who was reportedly injured, during a gun battle on the Line of Control (LoC) at Janghar in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

With this, troops have successfully thwarted third infiltration attempt by the terrorists on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts in less than a month.
Sources told the Excelsior that troops observed movement of two terrorists on the LoC in Janghar area of Nowshera sector and opened firing to neutralize them.
A heavy firefight ensued in which one terrorist was eliminated and his colleague was injured.
There were no casualties on the Army side and the infiltration attempt by the terrorists has been successfully foiled, the sources said.
They added that the injured terrorist was observed falling while trying to escape towards Pakistan. He was reportedly injured and a hunt was on to nab him.
The White Knight Corps wrote on X: ”Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces detected the movement of two terrorists in the general area of Jhangar in Nowshera sector along the LoC at around 3 pm.
”Alert troops responded with swift and calibrated action and engaged the infiltrators, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt”.
It added that In the ensuing exchange of fire, one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was eliminated, effectively preventing any breach of the LoC.
Army said a search operation has been launched to trace the second terrorist, who is believed to be hiding in the area.
Security forces have strengthened their operational posture and heightened surveillance across the sector, with integrated ground and aerial monitoring to ensure complete domination of the area, the Army said.
This was the third infiltration attempt by the Pakistani terrorists which has been foiled by the troops on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts in less than a month.
Previous two intrusion bids have been foiled in Bhimber Gali and Sunderbani sectors.
Sources said the Pakistani terrorists have been desperate to enter into Jammu and Kashmir for terror activities which was evident from the infiltration attempts.
There have also been reports that the terrorists were camping at launch pads on LoC as well as the International Border waiting for an opportunity to sneak.
However, security forces have been maintaining a very high alert on the LoC and IB to thwart designs of the terrorists.
