JAMMU: Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) Club Simbal Camp and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club won their respective matches on the opening day of the hockey tournament. Being organised by Hockey J&K in connection with I-Day Sports Week at Green Fields, Gandhi Nagar, here, the event was declared open by Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Ashok Singh. Manager of the Green Fields, S P Singh was also present. In the opening match, MBS defeated Deshmesh Club Nanak Nagar 4-1 while in other game of the day, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club trounced Jammu XI by two goals to one. General secretary of Hockey J&K, Rajinder Singh Kuku was special guest in this match. Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Gurpreet Singh, Balmeet Singh, Tajinder Singh and D Singh. Joginder Singh has been made tournament director.
