Sports Council, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club conduct plantation, cleanliness drives

JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration with Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hockey Club on Friday jointly conducted a plantation and cleanliness drives from Main Stadium to Old Satwari playfield.
Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer, J&K Sports presided over as a Chief Guest and Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council Jammu was the Guest of Honour at the venue.
The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of keeping environment clean.
As part of the initiative saplings were planted by the officials and the players in different Sports Fields.
The camping’s main aim was to direct players towards constructive activities with the positive outcome and contribute towards welfare of the society.
The officials and the players participated in the drive enthusiastically and helped each other in planting the saplings and also took an oath to look after the planted saplings besides planting more tress and in future.
On the occasion, the Chef Guest enumerated the benefits of green and clean environment. He also advised players to plant a tree in their own areas, road sides and open fields wherever they feel plantation drive can be carried conveniently. He also assured of all possible help.
Vote of thanks was present by Dr. Taran Singh- General Secretary, Hockey J&K, who also appreciates the efforts of Rajiv Sharma- President Hockey J&K.
