JAMMU: In a major action against narco-smugglers, a team of Anti Narcotics Task Force of J&K arrested two notorious inter-state smugglers and recovered huge quantity of narcotics from their possession on Thursday. As per details, acting on a specific input regarding smuggling of narco substances from Kashmir valley to Punjab via Mughal Road, sleuths of Anti Narcotic Task Force swung into action and laid Nakas at various places. During Naka checking, a Truck bearing registration number JK05G 9444 was intercepted and on checking, 500 Kg Poppy Straw was recovered from the vehicle, which was seized and two persons namely Imtyaz Hussain, son of Mohd Hussain Shoel, resident of Chhachhwan Gool and Ubaid Ahmad Dar, son of Sona-Ullah Dar, resident of Darsu Khalsa, Baramulla were arrested.
The truck was also seized and FIR under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotripic Substances Act was registered against accused. Initial investigations revealed that the consignment was being carried from Kashmir valley to Punjab. The ANTF is further investigating forward and backward linkages of the Inter-state drug racket.
