‘Start-up movement reaching B-towns’

JAMMU, June 10: Crediting Modi Government with initiating a new era of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that enhancement of the duration of Amarnath Yatra this year is itself a statement of normalcy here.

“62-day long duration of the scheduled Amarnath Yatra is itself a statement of normalcy in Jammu Kashmir and speaks of the confidence of Government whereas we have observed in the last 20-25 years that earlier regimes used to reduce the annual pilgrimage to 10 days or 15 days on various excuses,” he said while talking to media persons after inaugurating two-day ‘Young Start-up Expo’ at Udhampur today.
Further, the Union Minister added, extension in the yatra duration also denotes enthusiasm of the people in visiting Jammu & Kashmir where a record number of 2.75 crore tourists arrived this year because of tremendous improvement in security situation.
While listing achievements of Modi Government in respect of developmental works initiated in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the Devika Rejuvenation Project was near completion and being given final touches.
Drawing attention towards the state of art wellness centre coming up at Mantalai, he alleged that Congress abandoned the legacy of Dhirendra Brahmachari who was spiritual Guru of Indira Gandhi whereas BJP revived it from ruins.
Earlier, while inaugurating the Start-up Expo, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Start-up movement promoted by PM Narendra Modi is now reaching every part of India including the B-towns and the 2-day “Young Start-up Expo” at Udhampur offers an opportunity to explore new avenues for industry as well as entrepreneurs in the region. He claimed that under PM Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has been given the top most priority in everything which is the reason that J&K is competing in terms of development with the developed States and UTs in India.
“PM Modi has within two months referred to J&K thrice in complimentary terms. In 99th Mann Ki Baat, Modi referred to Bhaderwah’s lavender and yesterday again tweeted about it. Two days back, Modi had also tweeted about Balaji Tirupati temple in Jammu,” informed the Minister.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that Start-ups in India grew 300 times in the last 9 years as from just around 350 Start-ups before 2014 and there has been a quantum jump in Start-ups to more than 90,000 with more than 100 Unicorns.
Dr Jitendra Singh further said, India had no dearth of talent, capability, innovation and creativity in the youth, but they were lacking a favourable milieu and proper patronage from the political leadership which was provided by Prime Minister Modi.
“Focus of the PM Modi led Government in the last nine years has not been just to create employment but also to build entrepreneurship,” said Dr Singh, adding that. the mantra of PM Modi ‘StartUp India, StandUp India’ is creating millions of job opportunities for the youth of this country who are gradually coming out of the Government job mind-set and are ready to take the plunge and create new opportunities in niche sectors, in turn creating scores of job opportunities.
The StartUp conclave was attended by Director CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Dr Zabeer Ahmad; Chairperson DDC Udhampur, Lal Chand; Vice Chairperson DDC, Juhi Manhas Pathania; Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary; SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar besides BDCs, DDCs and other officers of district administration.
Meanwhile, Dr Jitendra Singh, who represents Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha, also chaired a meeting with PRI representatives and District Administration to review the progress of ongoing developmental works at Udhampur. He stressed that the development must reach the last man in the last queue as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi.
During the meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh emphasised that the District Administration must work in tandem and close coordination with the public representatives so as to ensure effective implementation of the welfare schemes on ground for benefit of the general public.
He directed the officers to remain in touch with the people, pay regular visits and organise camps in all the remote and far-flung areas so that the people are made aware about the benefits of the welfare schemes of the Government.
The review meeting was attended by Chairperson DDC Udhampur, Lal Chand; Vice Chairperson DDC, Juhi Manhas Pathania; DC Udhampur, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, SSP Udhampur besides BDCs, DDCs and other officers of district administration.
