SAMBA: J&K Premier League 2020-21 was inaugurated on Thursday amid prompt and show by Suram Singh along with Jyoti-DSO at Sports Stadium Samba.
The inauguration was marked by exhibition match in the discipline of Kabaddi under the aegis of J&K Sports Council in collaboration with concerned associations.
The opening ceremony began with singing of National Anthem which was followed by welcome address highlighting the role of games and education for female empowerment by Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu.
He added that girls always deliver best results when they are prepared and motivated beforehand.
In women category the match was played between Gurha Slathia Sports Club and Tiger Club Samba which was won by former by a margin of 18-05. In men’s category, Tiger Club defeated it’s opponent Gureha Slathia by 40-19 points.
The tournament is being organised under the overall supervision of Ashok Singh- Divisional Sports Officer Jammu besides S.P Singh-Manager-Mini Stadium Parade Ground, Jammu has been nominated as tournament director for the conduct of District Samba Premier League.
The tournament venue witnessed the surge of prominent persons including District General Secretaries of Kabaddi, Hockey, Volleyball and Football associations besides Satish Gupta, Manager MA Stadium, Baljinder Pal Singh-Incharge- District Coaching Center Samba and officials and players.
Inaugural function received appreciation from all the guests and players present on the occasion and each one of them lauded the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for providing the best opportunity to youth of District Samba to showcase their talent and hoped the same shall continue in future also.
