Jammu: A drug peddler, who has been evading arrest for years, was held on Tuesday for his involvement in several cases registered in Jammu, officials said.
As per details, a notorious drug peddler namely Abdul Majeed, alias Ballu, son of Javid Ahmed, resident of Ragoora, who was booked under various FIRs but was evading his arrest since long, has finally been arrested and booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). Jammu Police was looking for the accused and finally intelligence was generated and on a tip-off, dedicated police teams of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu constituted under the supervision of SDPO City East Sajjad Sarwar and led by SHO Bagh-e-Bahu Insp Kirti Sharma after strenuous efforts, arrested the accused.
It is pertinent to mention that accused is a notorious drug peddler and several FIRs have been lodged against him in various different cases. FIRs lodged against the accused include FIR No 39/2019 under sections 307/332/353/147/148/149 of RPC, 8/21/22 of NDPS Act, 4/25 of A Act at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu; FIR No 15/2016 under sections 382/366 of RPC; FIR No 26/2019 under sections 379/380/457 of RPC; FIR No 26/2019 under sections 307/332/336/427 of RPC; FIR No 39/2019 under sections 307/353/336 of IPC and FIR No 38/2020 under sections 341/323/147 of IPC.
