HIRANAGAR: On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day Department of Physics, Govt. GLDM Degree college Hiranagar, organised a webinar under the aegis of “Azadi ka Amritav Mahotsav” on the themes “Energy Efficient India” and “Cleaner Planet”. The event was organized in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college. The resource person on the occasion was Dr. Ajit Kumar Sharma, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Chemical Engineering and Physical Science, Lovely Professional University, Punjab.
The webinar started with the welcome address by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sharma, HOD Physics of the college. Prof. Sujat Khan, Incharge Principal and coordinator NAAC congratulated the faculty of the Physics department for organizing the webinar and shared his words of wisdom. He emphasized the need of energy conservation and the role of society for cleaner planet. The resource person, Dr. Ajit Kumar Sharma, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and University of Allahabad, is working on the development of Green Innovation Technology and has about 04 US grant patents, 05 international patents and about 50 SCI research publications to his name. In the webinar, he stressed upon the need of alternative sources of energy and the replacing the non-renewable sources of energy by renewable ones. He deliberated that the most important component of being an environmentally responsible consumer is to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The webinar very well described the need of improving the energy efficiency so that the goal of cleaner and greener planet may be achieved. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Preeti Verma.
