SRINAGAR, Nov 2: The Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla today organized a workshop on “Advanced Lung Function Assessment” in collaboration with the PURE Foundation, Pune.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Majid Jahangir, Principal GMC Baramulla, along with Prof. (Dr) Shafqat Ahmad Lone, Registrar Academics; Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Shumail Bashir, Associate Professor and Head, Department of TB & Respiratory Medicine; and Course Directors Dr. Sundeep Salvi and Dr. Deesha Ghorpade.
In her welcome address, Organising Chairperson Dr. Shumail Bashir highlighted the significance of lung function diagnostics in improving respiratory care, particularly in cold regions like Kashmir where respiratory ailments are common.
The Principal, in his inaugural remarks, emphasized the need for advanced diagnostic modalities to enhance patient management and preventive care.
The academic session included expert lectures on key diagnostic techniques – Spirometry by Dr. Aqeel Hussain, FeNO (Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide) by Dr. Shumail Bashir, Lung Oscillometry by Dr. Deesha Ghorpade, and DLCO & Body Plethysmography by Dr. Sundeep Salvi.
The event witnessed participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, and medical professionals.
Eminent experts, including Prof. (Dr) Naveed Nazir Shah, HOD Chest Disease Hospital, and Prof. (Dr) Sonaullah Shah, HOD Medicine SKIMS Soura, contributed to the discussions.
A hands-on training session followed the lectures, providing participants with practical experience in advanced lung function testing.
